Eugene Girls Basketball Club’s
2016 WINTER BREAK
GIRLS BASKETBALL SKILLS AND CONDITIONING CLINIC
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
December 19, 20 & 21 – Noon to 3:00pm Daily
Oak Hill School
This three day drop-in clinic is designed for girls in 6th-8th grade who want to prepare for winter basketball through physical conditioning and basketball skill activities. Each three hour session includes rigorous, age appropriate physical conditioning and fundamental basketball skill drills. Attendance at all camp sessions is not required. There is no need to register and there is no cost to attend the camp, however donations to Food for Lane County are gratefully accepted.
Location and Times - The Clinic is held at Oak Hill School, 86397 Eldon Schafer Drive in Eugene. The school is located behind the LCC East 30th Avenue campus off Eldon Shafer Drive
Attendance - Because many of the drills and exercises are progressive, girls will get the most out of the camp by attending all sessions. We realize that there can be many conflicting activities over the winter break and attendance at all sessions of the camp is not required.
What to Bring - Wear appropriate basketball attire including shorts, t-shirt or tank top and basketball shoes. No jewelry, watches, etc. please. Bring your own water bottle. You do not need to bring a basketball. Since camp activities include strenuous conditioning, it is advisable to eat a moderate meal an hour or more before camp consisting of a good dose of high carbohydrate foods like whole grain bagels and breads, fruits or energy bars. Include some protein like nuts, yogurt or meats for staying power. After finishing the pre-clinic meal, athletes should sip fluids during the period leading up to the camp to ensure that they are well-hydrated to begin activities. Snack bars and energy drinks are available during breaks.
Camp Staff - The camp will be supervised by Bill Goldsmith. Bill has coached youth level girls basketball for twenty years in both Kidsports and YMCA league play and has conducted summer and winter conditioning camps for girls for the past several years.
